Travel Info to Change Islands
Air Travel
1.to St. John’s International Airport, rent a car and spend additional time visiting Newfoundland before or after your Change Islands Photoworkshop. Travel time/distance from St. John’s to the Change Islands ferry is about 6 hours (419 kms) if you stop for lunch.
2.to Deer Lake Airport in Western Newfoundland, rent a car and spend additional time visiting Newfoundland’s West Coast (eg. Gros Morne National Park) before or after your Change Islands Photoworkshop. The travel time from Deer Lake to the Change Islands ferry is about 5 hours (342 kms) if you stop for lunch. The distance from Deer Lake Airport to Rocky Harbour, in Gros Morne National Park is 72 kms.
3.to Gander International Airport and rent a car at the airport, or arrange to be picked up from the airport and driven to Change Islands. The drive to the ferry is about 70 minutes. The ferry crossing is 20 minutes and the drive from the Change Islands ferry-wharf into town is 15 minutes. The cost for round-trip transportation to and from the airport is $119 (includes ferry tariff). Air Canada has flights into Gander.

Driving via the Nova Scotia Ferry from North Sydney
Drive the Trans-Canada highway through Nova Scotia and take the Atlantic Marine ferry to one of the two Newfoundland Ferry Terminals.
1. Ferry from North Sydney to Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland: about 4.5-8 hour crossing (see schedule below); shortest ferry route to (Western) Newfoundland; . morning or evening crossing. reservations suggested. The drive from Port-aux-Basques to Change Islands Ferry is about 8.5 hours (609 kms) with a couple of stops enroute; great opportunity to see Western Newfoundland
2 .Ferry from North Sydney to Argentia, Newfoundland: about 14-15 hour evening crossings; ferry route to Eastern Newfoundland & the Avalon Peninsula & St. John’s; drive to the Change Islands Ferry about 5.5 hour (337 kms)
